•  As of April 13th,  we will have the following program in place to help you guide your children as we navigate this new educational terain for the remainder of the school year, currently scheduled to end on June 19th, 2020. 

    Rosalia Middle School Class Guidance:

    • For Digital Learning opportunities, students will have the opportunity to use various digital resources that will be recommended to you by your respective teachers.   
      • We will also continue to use paper packets for students with limited wi-fi access or for those who request paper copies.  If families qualify for Free and Reduced Lunches and do not currently have internet access, we may be able to provide low-cost wi-fi access in their respective homes for a limited basis (until July 31st).  Please contact Mr. McLain @ mmclain@rosaliaschools to take advantage of this opportunity.
    • Course work assignments
      • Learning packets will be passed out on Mondays with the expectation of completion weekly.  We will provide guidance on how we would like to collect student coversheets that will be used to esablish Passing grading criteria shortly.  We are working on making this process as safe as possible for our teachers, as handling papers at this time is considered an unsafe practice.  Parents or students can take a picture of their work and email it to the teachers as an acceptible solution to this dilemma.
      • Types of work: weekly assignments or projects with clear weekly checkpoints that will be provided by students' teachers
      • No penalty for late work to accommodate family at-home situations, but there will be minimal expectations from teacher for students to complete work.
      • No more than 1-2 hours of work per week per course taken (MS students would have no more than 7-14 hours worth of work total for all classes).
      • We will be providing all necessary support materials, whether it be digital or paper/pencil.  If you need copy paper, writing paper, pencils or any other necessary course item, please call the District Office, and we will deliver necessary items to your home via lunch bus or mail service.
    • Grading Expectations for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year  
      • Students will earn A, B, and I grades for 4th quarter.  Students will not earn an F grade in their classes.  If students do not complete the minimum requirements from their courses, they will receive an Incomplete (I) grade and will be subject to summer school options or remediation in the Fall.

    • Communication with Students and Parents
      • Teachers may use teleconferencing meeting platforms to provide teacher access or student tutoring options 
        • Students still have the option of sending email or receiving phone calls if they cannot access teleconferencing options.
        • Virtual Office Hours will be held on Wednesdays and Thursdays 2:00-3:00pm so that students/parents can access staff to discuss assignments, progress toward accomplishing learning goals, and providing opportunities to make meaningful connections with teachers
        • Teacher-led instruction opportunities may be scheduled depending on the need and wishes of students/parents at alternative times.
    • Accountability Measures Rosalia Schools will Take
      • Teachers will make weekly contact with students/parents via email, phone, teleconferencing, etc.
      • Students will need to turn in weekly assignments for completion grades only (At this time, we are not collecting hard copies of work, but we will take digital work that can be sent via email back to teachers).  Students are typically graded on proficiency and effort, but we want to make the process as painless as possible for students during this life-altering time.  Teachers will use what students turn in to establish grading criteria for their students.  
      • Teachers will log communication with students and parents using communication logs, in an effort to provide equitable services to all students.
    • IEP services will be provided as needed through the Special Education Department.  We will not be providing on-site services at this time.
